What is CHOICE?
CHOICE Learning Center is a place where a child, along with their parents, determines their learning goals and curricula. CHOICE creates a unique learning environment for your child with the resources, peer-to-peer coaching, and games/challenges to make learning enjoyable and fruitful. Everyone learns differently. If you envision a different learning environment for your child, please consider CHOICE!
2024/2025 Admissions?
We are at capacity in our current building and do not have any remaining spots for 2023/2024. We are building on a farm property in Woods Cross and we are delighted to be opening 30 spots for the upcoming year! We are looking for more creative, self-driven learners who are ready to take on the world!
The Story of CHOICE
CHOICE: An Acton Academy, is a learner driven learning center in Bountiful, Utah for ages 4-14 Monday – Thursday. CHOICE empowers children with the skills and beliefs necessary to live their potential and dreams.
You’ll wish learning was like this when you were younger. This is what happens each week…
Prepared for life
Session 6, Week 2 As we sat in the rotunda of the Capitol building for the Elementary School Constitution Bee, the keynote speaker asked an opinion question. Two children from two other schools raised their hand to answer, and 7 out of 8 of our heroes raised their...
We noticed…
Session 6, Week 1 As Spark and Fire Studio heroes came back to school for Session 6, they were welcomed into a Detective Quest. Among other things, this quest will focus on noticing and observation. Following suite, here is what we noticed and observed as guides this...
How does it feel?
Session 5, Week 6 Last year the Spark heroes learned and performed an epic song titled "The Golden Rule." The heroes sang questions such as "How does it feel when someone takes the time to get to know you?", "How does it feel when someone offers you a helping hand?",...
Being comfortable with the uncomfortable
Session 5, Week 5 During our 3rd Parent Night this past Thursday, we (parents) practiced being "comfortable with the uncomfortable." We shared our thoughts about hard questions such as motivation, excellent work, overwhelm, the heroes' system of self governance and...
What did you do today?
Session 5, Week 4 "I forgot." "I can't remember." "Nothing." As I look around each day and see all the incredible, challenging, meaningful and fun work the heroes are engaged in, I am amused and stunned (and sometimes even sad) by the responses parents get to the...
Different flavors
Session 5, Week 3 I don't like chocolate. Never have. As I got older, I recognized an intolerance to dairy. And nuts, I like them a lot, but they definitely don't belong in ice cream! No chocolate? No dairy? No nuts? Most people do not want to share ice cream with me!...
What our heroes (students) and their parents say…
I love the confidence-building atmosphere. It makes learning possible and more enjoyable! He said to me at the beginning of the school year, “I’m going to this school so I can be responsible and learn for myself.” So true! He is taking responsibility for himself and his own learning here! Before CHOICE, we struggled getting to school, emotionally and physically. Several months in, he still wakes up early so he’s not late for another fantastic day!

CHOICE has been such a blessing for our kids. It is so comforting knowing our kids are in a positive environment that is helping them grow! Not only are they learning scholastic skills, they are also learning how to become wonderful, strong individuals and how to handle everyday life. It has been so much fun watching our kids grow and come home so happy each day.

I highly recommend CHOICE. As I did my research about Acton Academies, I really liked their philosophy. I love that my child isn’t just learning for a test, but learning things like: initiative, responsibility, grit, gratitude, critical thinking, and collaboration. I love so much about CHOICE, but my favorite thing is they truly see each child as a hero. Whether my child has had a productive day or not, I know she is loved at CHOICE.

We have seen wonderful changes in our 1st grader these past few months! Where she would usually get frustrated and quit if something got difficult, she will now stop, assess, ask questions to figure things out. Most days when she comes home she prefers to continue learning and asking questions rather than watch T.V. When we decided to start this Hero’s Journey we knew we’d be on the right track if our child developed a love for learning and that exact thing has happened – but in much less time than expected!
