As we encountered heroes in the days leading up to the start of school, some were feeling excited for a new year, some were looking forward to seeing friends again, some dreaded waking up early, and have some were feeling nervous about a new school, a new studio, a new guide, or a new building. Some of those feelings and emotions are hard! When the big day  arrived, there were some nerves and some hard things to overcome, but what we saw most of was— smiles! Smiles as friends saw old friends again, smiles as incoming heroes made new friends, smiles as heroes explored their new space, smiles as we discussed the fun and hard things heroes did (or even watched Olympic heroes do) over the summer, smiles as they whip-creamed the guides and enjoyed pizza at the PIE party, and smiles as they wrapped up the day in collaboration with all three studios together and the biggest CHOICE cheer ever cheered. What did we see these heroes do when their journey got hard on the first day of school? They chose to be brave, participate and ended up having a lot of fun in the process! Day 1 foreshadows that we will have a great year exploring our Question of the Year: “What do you do when your Journey gets hard”? We can’t wait for Day 2!

Spark Studio

The first day of school was beautiful! We played, we learned, we laughed, we cried, we felt loved. Our focus for this first day was, “What does it mean to be a part of the Spark Studio?” What I observed was that it means we support one another. We work together to support each other on our journey. Seeing the heroes learn each other’s name by the first day was beautiful. They immediately sought out ways to support each other.

“I can show you how that works!”

“I can help you put that together!”

“I can show you where that is at!”

“Would you like a turn?”

“Do you want to play with us?”

We are a studio of amazing individuals who work together to form something extraordinary.
