The Bee Gees sang about it, and our heroes taught us how to do it!

In the Spark Studio… The heroes taught us parents how to be safe when crossing the street, what plants need to survive, and all about our police officers and fire fighters.

While their movie may not have been about safety… it was hilarious!!

In the Fire Studio… The heroes each chose one of their favorite newly acquired skills, and created a station where their parents could learn and do a challenge:

Lost: Get yourself unlost… they did such a good job of being lost, I never found them to take pictures!

Animals: Safely avoid a mountain lion

Shelter: Build a shelter out of a tarp and rope that will withstand wind (leaf blower), hail (ice) and rain (cups of water)

Plants: Find and eat an edible plant in the park – avoid the poisonous plants!

Knots: Tie specific knots and hoist yourself up

Fire: Be the first to start a one match fire or start a fire with flint and steel

Stamina: Complete the stamina challenges (how many were sore the next day??)

First Aid: Save the hero from her snake bites (and whatever other ailments she had!)

Water: Filter and drink water from the stream

Heroes in both studios learned and practiced real life skills this session. Not only survival skills, but also grit, goal setting, justice and mercy, and respecting others. These heroes have the skills not just to survive, but to thrive!
